Question for Christians, revelations?

You need to read Revelation (not Revelations) in its historical context. It is an apocalyptic text written sometime during the later part of the 1st century CE. It is written to encourage a Christian community, who had most likely experienced some sort of persecution by the Roman Emperor Nero. Much of the symbolism within the text is relating to Rome. The most popular example is the mark of the beast 666 which is most likely the numerical value of Emperor Nero. There is many good reference that would walk you through this text in its historical context.
