Should home schooling be allowed?

I need actual statistic on whether or not it should be allowed or not. Like percentages on how far behind they are or do they get further ahead than kids in public and private schools? Please help this is for an essay I will try to hep as much as possible. Thanks. Please tell me statics against it if it is possible. Or any other topics we could write about instead.
